Effective 22 October 2026
Vaiti Terms of Use
In short
- You may use Vaiti on your own devices for personal or work dictation.
- Speech recognition and AI cleanup run on Groq under your own Groq account; Groq’s terms and any Groq charges apply to you.
- Automatic transcription and AI editing can make mistakes. Check important text before you rely on it or send it.
- Don’t record people without their permission where the law requires it.
- Nothing here limits the rights you have as a consumer under the law of your country.
1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Vitaly Stockman, Porvoo, Finland, trading as SviFi, the developer name shown on Google Play (“I”, “the developer”), the developer of the Vaiti app (“the app”). By installing or using the app you accept them. If you do not agree, do not use the app. If you downloaded the app from Google Play, Google Play’s terms also apply to that download; they do not make Google a party to these terms.
2. Licence
I grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the app on devices you own or control, in accordance with these terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell or rent the app, or reverse-engineer it except where the law expressly allows. The app, its name, logo and design remain my property.
3. Your Groq account
The app works with a Groq API key that you create and enter yourself. Your use of Groq is governed by your agreement with Groq, Inc. (groq.com/terms-of-use) and its privacy policy. You are responsible for keeping your key secret, for the usage limits of your Groq plan, and for any charges Groq makes. The app’s usage figures are estimates and may differ from Groq’s records. I am not responsible for the availability, changes, pricing or results of Groq’s services.
Search by meaning on the phone (optional)
If you choose to download the search model in the app, you receive Google’s EmbeddingGemma model, unchanged, from github.com/SviFi/vaiti-models. Gemma is provided under and subject to the Gemma Terms of Use found at ai.google.dev/gemma/terms. By downloading it you agree to those terms and to the Gemma Prohibited Use Policy, whose restrictions apply to your use of the model. The app uses it only on your phone, to find your notes by meaning.
4. Acceptable use
You agree to use the app lawfully, and in particular:
- not to record other people without their consent where the law requires it;
- not to use the app to create or send unlawful, harassing or infringing content;
- not to use the app in a way that breaches Groq’s terms or acceptable-use policy;
- not to interfere with or attempt to misuse the app or the services it connects to.
5. Accuracy of results
Transcription and AI cleanup are automatic and can omit, mishear, misspell or alter words, change meaning, or apply a spoken command differently from what you intended. The app inserts text into other apps on your behalf; review it before sending or relying on it, especially for medical, legal, financial, safety-critical or other important matters. The app is not a substitute for professional transcription, and it is not an assistive-technology product certified for users with disabilities.
6. Your content
What you dictate and the resulting text belong to you. I do not receive it (see the Privacy Policy). Keep your own copies of anything important: your notes are stored only on your phone and are lost if you delete them, clear the app’s data or uninstall the app (Export in the app saves a copy where you choose).
7. Updates and availability
I may update, change or discontinue the app or any feature at any time, for example when Groq changes or retires models. I will try to keep the app working, but I do not guarantee that it will be available, uninterrupted or error-free, or compatible with every device or app.
8. Price
The app is currently provided free of charge. If paid features are introduced, their price and conditions will be shown before you buy, and purchases will be handled by the store you use, under its terms.
9. Warranty
To the extent permitted by law, the app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind beyond those that cannot be excluded by law. If you are a consumer, you keep all your statutory rights, including those under the Finnish Consumer Protection Act and the EU rules on digital content.
10. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, I am not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of data, lost profits, or damage caused by errors in transcribed or edited text, by third-party services such as Groq, or by use of the app contrary to these terms. Nothing in these terms limits liability for intentional misconduct or gross negligence, for death or personal injury, or any other liability that cannot be limited by law.
11. Ending use
You can stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it. If you seriously breach these terms, your licence ends automatically.
12. Changes to these terms
I may update these terms. The current version is always published at this address with its effective date. If you continue to use the app after a change, the new terms apply; if you do not agree, uninstall the app.
13. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Finland, without depriving consumers of the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where they live. Disputes are handled by the competent court in Finland, unless the law gives you the right to go to a court where you live. Consumers in Finland can also bring a dispute to the Consumer Disputes Board (kuluttajariita.fi); consumers in the EU can find their options at the European Commission’s consumer website.
